> Rome Galleria Traghetto is pleased to announce the first solo show in Rome by Filippo La Vaccara, young Sicilian artist who since a long time lives and works in Milan. By looking at La Vaccara’s works - water colours, acrylics on canvas and wood carvings - aspects of his poetic that catch our attention are represented by the fairy-tale and highly imaginative style, illustrative and spontaneous such as a comic strip, but the use of the light and the colours testifies a direct influence from the tradition of Italian painting’s masters. The images are poetic fragments of the everyday world that seems to be never banal and often enchanted such as a tale floating in a timeless dimension. The characters are involved in daily and familiar situations such as a barbecue or a walk in the green. Only apparently his paintings seem to be narrative micro-stories, but in reality they are only a still-image from where the spectators are invited to create their own version of the story. “I don’t like the idea of creating something nice to hang on the wall. I prefer to hang a doubt, a problem, something that could or should be resolve”. Also his sculptures, three-dimensional characters that belong to the same fantastic world of the paintings, represent gestures that allude to a narrative universe from which they are extrapolated. In this way the spectators have the chance to imagine and reconstruct the story. In show from may, 13th to june, 28th, 2010
